me looking forward to Monday lol |
I used to hate Mondays. Trust me, I hated it so much that I think it dislikes me too. Well, I'm not saying this because social media said so but because that's just how I felt when I have to wake up so early in the morning after a good weekend. Actually, I sometimes start dreading it on Sunday nights 'cause that's like "Monday eve" y'know. I know you can relate to this.
But things do change and I want you to realize that too. Monday's are 1/7 of our lives and that will mean you're hating probably 10-15 years. That's a very long time to dread a day that has done nothing to you. That's also me talking to myself haha. See? too much precious time could be wasted and we can't afford that because life is indeed too short.
Yesterday was one of my favorite Mondays. It made me realized that it's not so bad after all. Let me tell you a story.

You know when your room is just too comfy and cold that you don't want to get out of bed? That's how I felt yesterday. It was so hard to get up but I still did and started my day reading one of my unfinished books: THINK Small, the surprisingly small ways to achieve big goals. It was so inspiring because I know I have been working on my little goals and I needed that boost for the day. I just want to have that positive mindset to start the week.
After that, I worked all day. Mondays for me mean meetings after meetings after meetings... and in different languages. Especially for today, I had a special meeting with our team's Thai counterpart. I was really nervous about that. If you didn't know, I had this little insecurity in my Thai speaking skills but surprisingly everything went well. I was so uplifted and just so grateful because everyone was really empowering and I never felt the inadequacy for the language. I was like, internally joyous and crying. :)
And then I just had to hit the gym. I never thought I'd love it and I'm glad I finally decided to get a personal trainer. Miracles do happen. I also started learning jump ropes yesterday and it was not easy. But hey, it's something to look forward to.
Bonded with friends after and when I was about to finish the day, I even forgot it was a Monday.

There'll be a point in our lives where we'd wish we had more Mondays. I actually do wish I have more Mondays like that. But it's okay 'cause I know I'll have great Mondays to look forward to. Doing something you love helps. Set those little goals, and achieve them.
A change in our life patterns can make a difference. Our small habits hone us and can totally change the course of our lives. So if you think you just really hate Mondays, it's time to hate it the right way.
What an interesting perspective on Monday’s. I’m going to remember to embrace them from now on.
ReplyDeleteI have never hated Mondays and that is more true now than ever. I hate no day as every day is a blessing.
ReplyDeleteI used to feel the same way. Now I look at Monday's as a fresh start to a new week.
ReplyDeleteI really love the way you have of looking at things. Maybe I need to change the way I look at Mondays, too.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about perspective. I hate Mondays because it means the weekend with my kids has just ended and I'd have to go through a stressful trip through traffic again. But it's ok once I reach the office.
ReplyDeleteHihi...I don't think I will easily overcome my dislike for Mondays any time soon. But, I'll try, I promise!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about your take on Mondays! Personally, I don't mind Mondays, thankfully!
ReplyDeleteI used to hate Mondays too but the book that got me love it is IKIGAI, the book is all about finding your purpose and motivation to get out of bed every morning. I love your story too. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI have just started jumpropes too. It's fun but not as easy as I thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteI need to read THINK Small, the surprisingly small ways to achieve big goals! Seems like a great book. I'll look for it.
ReplyDeleteHaha I love your way with words, and I agree with you - sometimes I think mondays dislikes me to!
ReplyDeleteI love this title! I never knew there was a wrong way to hate Mondays! But I can see what you mean when reading through this. Great advice!
ReplyDeleteI've hated Mondays before as well until I looked at it on another perspective. What a great post and thanks for sharing this with us.
